I've read a few books since my last blog, sorry its been quite a few months of not blogging!

Two books I'm going to review today are The Rosie Project & The Rosie Effect

The Rosie Project is a 2013 Australian novel and the debut work of Australian novelist Graeme Simsion. The work was first published on January 30, 2013 in Australia by Text Publishing and has subsequently been released in the United States through Simon & Schuster and in the United Kingdom through Penguin Books. The novel centers on genetics professor Don Tillman, who struggles to have a serious relationship with women. With a friend's help, he devises a questionnaire to assess the suitability of female partners. His plans are set off course when he meets Rosie, who doesn't fit many of Tillman's criteria, but becomes a big part of his life. A sequel entitled The Rosie Effect was released in 2014.

Forty-one-year-old geneticist Don Tillman had never had a second date before he met Rosie. Now, living in New York City, they have survived ten months and ten days of marriage, even if Don has had to sacrifice standardized meals and embrace unscheduled sex. But then Rosie drops the mother of all bombshells. And Don must prepare for the biggest challenge of his previously ordered life - while dodging deportation, prosecution and professional disgrace. Is Don Tillman ready to become the man he always dreamed of being? Or will he revert to his old ways and risk losing Rosie for ever?

I enjoyed reading these two books I read them quite quickly. You need to read them in order to understand what goes on in the second book, you get to know the characters in the book really well. I would put these books high up on my list of book I may read again. I will give these two 4 and half stars each.

Hi Guys I'm still not very good at keeping this up to date. I will try harder!

I've read a few books and watched a few films since I last updated this blog. So I'm going to review one book and one film today.

The book I'm going to review is The Shock of Fall by Nathan Filer

‘I’ll tell you what happened because it will be a good way to introduce my brother. His name’s Simon. I think you’re going to like him. I really do. But in a couple of pages he’ll be dead. And he was never the same after that.’
There are books you can’t stop reading, which keep you up all night.

This book got me going from the very first page I read this book in a couple of days very easy to read. Its takes you on a journey through a mans mental health issues. I would give this book 4 stars. It is also the winner of the costa book of the year 2013.

The Film for today is The Secret Life of Walter Mitty

Ben Stiller directs and stars in The Secret Life of Walter Mitty, James Thurber's classic story of a day-dreamer who escapes his anonymous life by disappearing into a world of fantasies filled with heroism, romance and action. When his job along with that of his co-worker (Kristen Wiig) are threatened, Walter takes action in the real world embarking on a global journey that turns into an adventure more extraordinary than anything he could have ever imagined.

I found this film really good, as I got into it, a bit slow at first. I will watch this one again. Ben Stiller does a great job in this film I will give this one 4 stars out of five.

Hi Guys sorry haven't blogged for over a month now have been really bad at keeping on top of this!

I have been brought Outnumbered series 5 for my birthday earlier last month. I have watched most of it.

The Brockmans return, older but no wiser, in the award-winning comedy that celebrates the daily chaos of family life. The parents face new challenges now. Karen has started secondary school, where her uncompromising attitude is winning her no friends. Ben has grown into a massive 13 year old who is grappling with the problems presented by pubescent urges, stage fright and man-traps. While the oldest son, Jake hovers on the brink of adulthood, beset by poor decision-making about gap years, morality and cheap tattoos. Mum and Dad battle their way through all this, plus an unsettling barrage of email firestorms, missing hamsters, vigilante neighbours, unwelcome visitors from abroad and a musical version of ‘Spartacus’.

I think outnumbered is brilliant I have all them on dvd now. I would give series five 4 stars as it is well written and funny and true to life. I will be watching this again and again.

More blogging from me very soon. I will try do it more often.

Monday 31 March 2014

Sorry guys I haven't up dated my post for a few days! This is just a short post today.

My book review today is The Chronicles of Narnia I have all seven books in one. These books are a childhood favourite of mind. I read these books as a child and am now reading them as adult. I have just read Prince Caspian.

The Pevensie siblings are back to help a prince denied his rightful throne as he gathers an army in a desperate attempt to rid his land of a false king. But in the end, it is a battle of honour between two men alone that will decide the fate of an entire world.

I enjoyed this one but wasn't my favourite by any means. I think you should read these books. I would give the Chronicles of Narnia 5 stars as they are well written and they are very magical and any age can read them. my favourite is The Lion Witch and The Wardrobe

Four adventurous siblings—Peter, Susan, Edmund, and Lucy Pevensie— step through a wardrobe door and into the land of Narnia, a land frozen in eternal winter and enslaved by the power of the White Witch. But when almost all hope is lost, the return of the Great Lion, Aslan, signals a great change . . . and a great sacrifice.

We as a family when we where children read and watched the bbc version of Narnia. We watched them again and again we never grew tried of them. When three of them were re made into films I had to watch them they bring back childhood memories.  BRILLIANT!

Today I'm going to introduce you to my little Lego friend Betty.

Betty will pop up from time to time in my blog, Betty is going to help me review my books and films I put on here, as Betty is reading the same books as me and watching the same films. Betty is also into photography big time as you can see she is holding a camera. other interest  of Betty's are watching Norwich City, traveling going to the cinema and having fun.

I have also just finish another book this morning The Red House by Mark Haddon. I really enjoyed Marks other books The Curious Incident of the Dog in the Night-time, so I thought I would give this one ago. Wasn't as good as his last ones.

Two families. Seven days. One house. Angela and her brother Richard have spent twenty years avoiding each other. Now, after the death of their mother, they bring their families together for a holiday in a rented house on the Welsh border. Four adults and four children. Seven days of shared meals, log fires, card games and wet walks.
But in the quiet and stillness of the valley, ghosts begin to rise up. The parents Richard thought he had. The parents Angela thought she had. Past and present lovers. Friends, enemies, victims, saviours.

For me it was quite hard to follow the story line as it switches from one person to another. Glad I finished it though. I would give it 3 stars as I may read it again to try and understand it better. But won't read it for a long time.

More blogging from me and Betty in a few days!

Saturday 15 March 2014

Sorry I haven't blogged for the last two days! On Thursday I treated myself to the cinema, and I went to see The Book Thief which I enjoyed very much.

It is based on the beloved international bestselling book, The Book Thief tells the story of Liesel, an extraordinary and courageous young girl sent to live with a foster family in World War II Germany. She learns to read with encouragement from her new family and Max, a Jewish refugee who they are hiding under the stairs. For Liesel and Max, the power of words and imagination become the only escape from the tumultuous events happening around them. The Book Thief is a life-affirming story of survival and of the resilience of the human spirit.

I haven't read the book yet, it is on my list of books to read in the next few months and I will be buying the dvd too. I found the film happy and sad in places, as people do die in it but then she gets reunited with her real parents again. I would give this film 4 and half stars as it is well written and acted out.

More of my blog to come later. Bye for now!

Wednesday 12 March 2014

Today I'm going to review two children's book these are books I love to read and have read when I was a child.  They bring back memories. The books are Peace at Last by Jill Murphy and Alfie Gets in First by Shirley Hughes

The hour was late and Mr Bear was tired. But he could not sleep – however he tried and wherever he tried. SNORE, SNORE went Mrs Bear. TICK-TOCK, TICK-TOCK went the clock. Would he never get to sleep? The familiar noises, repetition and beautiful illustrations make this delightful picture book an all-time favourite with children and adults everywhere.

Alfie and his mum and baby sister, Annie Rose, arrive home after shopping. While his mum struggles with the pushchair outside, Alfie rushes inside and slams the door behind him. So now Alfie's stuck INSIDE and his mum and Annie Rose are stuck OUTSIDE without a key! Soon everyone in the street is trying to help rescue Alfie - but he's got a plan of his own . . .

I read Alfie gets in first when I was child and loved it! The pictures are well done and it teaches children about life. Its written for children between 2-6 years old. Peace at last is also another great book to read with your children also written for children aged 2-6 years. I would give both of these books five stars, as they are well written and pictures are brilliant too.

I hope you have enjoyed reading my first three book reviews!
