Sorry I haven't blogged for the last two days! On Thursday I treated myself to the cinema, and I went to see The Book Thief which I enjoyed very much.
It is based on the beloved international bestselling book, The Book Thief tells the story of Liesel, an extraordinary and courageous young girl sent to live with a foster family in World War II Germany. She learns to read with encouragement from her new family and Max, a Jewish refugee who they are hiding under the stairs. For Liesel and Max, the power of words and imagination become the only escape from the tumultuous events happening around them. The Book Thief is a life-affirming story of survival and of the resilience of the human spirit.
I haven't read the book yet, it is on my list of books to read in the next few months and I will be buying the dvd too. I found the film happy and sad in places, as people do die in it but then she gets reunited with her real parents again. I would give this film 4 and half stars as it is well written and acted out.
More of my blog to come later. Bye for now!
